Swedish massage

Swedish massage involves several techniques including effleurage (stroking),
petrissage (muscles are grabbed and lifted) and friction whereby the
thumbs are moved in deep circles onto the problem muscle.
Also Swedish massage is used to relax the muscles by rubbing
and applying pressure to the muscle against deeper muscles
and bones - applying the pressure in the same direction as the
blood flow that is returning to the heart.

These exercises increase the oxygen flow in the blood which
then causes toxins (lactic acid, uric acid, metabolic wastes)
to be released from the muscles. This then can allow the
muscle to function properly and ease any pain.

Apart from pain relief Swedish massage is relaxing, it promotes health and well being and stimulates the skin and nervous system. Swedish massage is recommended for stress management as it is proven to reduce both physical and emotional stress.
